The 2014 Irish Intervarsity Hockey Championships kicks off this weekend, hosted by Queens University at Upper Malone.
Ulster Elks will once again be in action in this year’s interprovincial tournament which will take place this weekend at Lisnagarvey HC.

Around 25-30 players from the Ulster Elks will be involved in a hockey fun day at Mossley HC in order to raise money for CLIC Sargent, a charity that supports children and young people with cancer.
It was an excellent end to the season for the Ulster Elks, as they have secured a place in the 2015 Irish Hockey League after a nail biting win over the Catholic Institute. The wild card play-off took place at Jordanstown yesterday, when the Elks won over a 4-2 penalty shoot-out.
Pre-season training will commence for everyone in the Senior Club on Monday 18th August 2014, 7-9pm on the waterbased pitch at Jordanstown. Sessions will run every Monday (7-9pm), Wednesday (7-9pm) and Saturday (time TBC) thereafter.
The Ulster Elks Hockey Academy for girls aged 7-14yrs will start back in September – keep an eye on our website and facebook page for more information closer to the time.

Our very own Jessica McMaster has been on International duty over the last couple of weeks with the Ireland U16 squad. Jess has travelled to Vienna for a three game series against Austria and then the following weekend played a three games series against Wales in Dublin. Having found the net in each series, the Belfast High school girl has certainly been shining in the Irish jersey this summer!
There were mixed results for the Indoor squad this year, in what was a smaller than usual tournament hosted by Queens at the PEC.
The Ulster Elks 1stXI lost their unbeaten run of nine games in the Premier League when they entertained Pegasus at Jordanstown, while the 2ndXI progressed in the McConnell Shield in contrasting results last Saturday.
